Old Hickory Golf Club Head Professional Brett Moomey

My love for the game of golf started in 1994 when Mid Rivers Golf Links opened its doors, I had a place to practice, play and learn from PGA Profesional Ed Schwent. My game began to improve and after high school at Francis Howell North decided to pursue a college golf career. I walked on to the team at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. I played all four years of my eligibility and was named a Division II Ping All American my senior year.

After graduating with my degree in Business Management in December 2002, I knew the golf industry was my career calling. I had spent 6 seasons in the Bag Room at Bogey Hills Country Club from 1997-2002 under longtime professionals John Prange & Bob Jones. A few months after graduation, I was offered an entry level Assistant Golf Professional position at Bellerive Country Club. I was very fortunate to be at the right place at the right time and be able to work for two great PGA Professionals in Joe Schwent and Mike Tucker. Bellerive brought me unique experiences being able to work three major championships in my 11 years as well as could compete in nearly every Gateway Section event during my time there. I became a Class A PGA Member in February of 2009.

In July 2013 I was given my first Head Professional position at The Legends Country Club. This opportunity was brief as shortly after taking the job, the same position at Old Hickory Golf Club became available in my old backyard. I have been at ‘The Hick’ since January 2014 and the growth of the membership and the friendships I have made will hopefully keep me in place for years to come. I truly enjoy coming to work each day and serving our members and leading our golf staff.

I have been fortunate to have been honored several times by the Gateway Section and each time is very humbling. In 2005 & 2006 I earned the Assistant Player of the Year Award, in 2010 the Horton Smith Award and in 2009 & 2012 The Assistant Professional of the Year honor. In 2017 I received the Joe Dodich Golf Professional of the Year, the highest honor our section gives out annually and very special as it is voted on by my peers. I have served the section since 2006 and am currently the Vice President on the Board of Directors. My time on the board of directors will run thru 2024. I enjoy competing in our tournament program and taking members to our annual pro-am tournaments. My playing highlights include the Gateway PGA Match Play Championship Trophy in 2006, 2017 & 2019.

I know I have had my success professionally because of the great support I have at home. My high school sweetheart and wife Lori is very supportive and keeps me going during the grind of the long seasons. Together we have two amazing daughters Morgan & Taylor and our Golden Doodle Reba. My family enjoys their visits to Old Hickory as well! Whether hanging with dad or more importantly Melissa in the Golf Shop, playing some holes or relaxing poolside, it’s great to get to see them at the club when my schedule gets busy.
